Students learned that we must have light from a light source to be able to see an object. We looked into a pinhole viewer without and with light. We also went into the teacher bathroom and closed the door without the light on and saw how dark it was in there.

We began a new unit today in which we're learning about light and sound.
We began with brainstorming what we know about light. Then we classified the objects that make light as man made or natural objects. Students finished up our Sky Watchers unit with reviewing how the Sun, Earth and Moon work together to create what we see or experience.
Students reviewed rotation and revolution and what we experience on earth because of the earth's motions.
Students reviewed moon phases and why we see the phases of the moon.
Students took measurements of the temperature in the sun and shade.
Today we used black and white construction paper to symbolize the moon and the amount of black and white paper shown demonstrated the moon phases.
Students used oreo cookies to show the phases of the moon and then we were able to enjoy a snack in science.
We simulated the phases of the moon with a light and a person being the moon. We were able to see part of their lit up face and talked about the phase that would be on the moon.
We learned the phases of the moon and how the moon looks like different shapes.
