Students earned a free day with their behavior. Both groups voted to hold the chick. Then one class chose to play clever crazes and the other chose to watch a Magic School Bus video about spiders.
Students are learning about how we use rocks. We took a tour outside on Monday to find examples of how we use rocks. Today we looked at 3 different grades of sandpaper.
Today we are exploring the smallest size of rock- clay. We put clay in vials of water and we let some sit out overnight. We'll see what happens.
We had one chick hatch over night. We think the egg was incubating under its mother hen before it was collected and brought to us. The other eggs have 10 days left before they are expected to hatch.
Students observed the sand in water that we set up last week. They observed the smaller rock material- silt.
Students investigated sand and discovered that sand is tiny pieces of rock with different colors and shapes.
Students separated rocks into their sizes using a paper screen. We talked about the different rock sizes.
