Students learned about the other motion that Earth does, which is revolving. We learned that a revolution is the earth going around the sun and it takes a year.

Students made a list of what criteria our baskets have to have and we figured out what experiments we need to do to test our paper. We also found materials in the Maker Space to use next time on our experiments.
Students continue to explore the sun and how the earth rotates causing day and night. We watched a brain pop jr video (thank you to the PTO for our subscription) about the sun. Today we practiced simulating day and night with globes.
Students modeled what day and night mean. We learned that day is when the earth is facing the sun and getting sunlight. Night is when the earth is not facing the sun and not getting sunlight.
We finished comparing and contrasting the day and night sky. We also went to the Maker Space.
Students began our first unit, Sky Watchers. We observed the day sky and drew both the day and night sky. We talked about the similarities and differences of what we can see in the sky at different times.
Students used their observation skills to draw and write about a marble. Then we switched papers with someone else to see if that person could find our marble.
Today we read a book about what scientists do. Then we drew a picture of ourselves as scientists.
Welcome Back!
We began our science school year with new assigned seats, going over expectations and practicing safety drills. No homework |
