First graders had science on Thursday because they won't have it on Monday due to Mrs. Bick's appointment.
Students learned how to make a worm bin and why worms need bedding. They also learned about what kinds of foods worms like to eat and we'll be gathering those scraps on Friday. Students located worm body parts on the red worms in the compost bin.
Students used a website called Adventures of Herman the Worm and learned about the body parts of the worms.
Students sequenced the Diary of a Worm story and we talked about the fact and fictional items in the story.
Students observed the compost bin in our classroom and we wrote questions about worms.
Students observed their homemade soil and the soil they gathered from outside. We saw the differences in the soil and that soil is made up of the same materials.
Students observed their soil they collected outside last week.
