Students took a virtual field trip to the moon using google cardboard viewers. They had lots of fun looking at the moon as if they were there.
Students reviewed the phases of the moon and why we see different shapes of the moon.
No homework- the paper sent home Friday was a family extension sheet if you'd like an activity to build on what we're doing in class We talked about the moon phases again and we used the white cream in oreos to represent the phases of the moon.
No homework Students explored phases of the moon by becoming the earth, moon and sun and seeing which sides of them the "earth" was able to see lit up.
No homework Students measured the temperature in the sun and shade. We found that the shade was much cooler than the sun.
No homework Students learned about the pattern of the moon phases and that they can be predicted.
We got on almanac.com and viewed the phase of the moon on the day of our birth and we looked into the future and saw the moon phase on our birthday in 2030. Students discussed the phases of the moon and we learned the names of the phases.
No homework Students finished our activity with the globes and outside shadows. We discovered that the sun appears to move across the sky causing our shadows to change direction and length.
No homework Students earned a free day with their behavior. They chose to watch a Magic School Bus video "Gets Lost in Space".
