Students investigated the chemical reaction of baking soda and vinegar again, but this time the reaction was in a closed water bottle with a balloon on top. Ask your child what happened to the balloon.
Students observed their black and white solids from last week and determined that they were able to separate them and that they were salt and pepper.
We also observed a chemical reaction of baking powder and vinegar. Students were challenged with identifying and separating a mystery mixture.
We reviewed all the ways we have separated mixtures with this activity. Students observed their salt crystals left over from allowing the mixture of water and salt to evaporate.
Students continued learning about dissolving by timing how quickly sugar grains dissolve in hot verses cold water.
