Students finished observing their petri dishes of the evaporating ice cube. We also finished our water cycle drawings. We read a story about the water cycle called A Snowman in July.

Today we learned about the water cycle by observing the water cycle using a cup system, warm water and ice. We drew a picture of the water cycle and watched the Brain Pop jr video about the water cycle. Thank you to the PTO for our Brain Pop Jr subscription.
Students observed that hot water evaporates quickly and then condenses on the sides of solids when the solids are cooler than the water vapor.
We also played kahoot games. No homework Students observed their evaporated petri dishes. We also observed our frozen ice in the freezer. We set up the ice to melt and evaporate.
No homework Students were given a challenge today to melt ice as quickly as possible. We discovered that adding heat to something melts it very quickly.
Students began their first unit, Changes, which is about matter and the physical and chemical changes matter goes through.
Today we looked at different situation cards and talked about what changed in each scenario. We also put an alkaseltzer tablet in water and saw how the tablet and water changed. No homework Today we practiced observing as scientists. Each student picked a necklace and observed it, drew a picture, and wrote words about it. Then we switched papers with someone else that had to find our necklace.
