Students learned about how animals change the environment. We read a story called Animals and Their Homes.
Unfortunately we have discovered that our thermometers were not showing accurate readings and therefore our incubators were running at temperatures too high and too low to allow the chicks to develop. So, the eggs will not hatch. We will try with a new batch of eggs after spring break.
Today students finished up their observations of their beet plants. Still no hatching. We'll keep the incubators going for a few more days.
Today we made a booklet of the animals that hatch from eggs. There is no hatching yet, but we are hopeful that we will still have chicks. We'll give them a few more days.
Today we made eggs that when you open up the crack, the chick is there. We learned about animals that hatch from eggs. We also candled our eggs. We look forward to a successful hatch next week!
We have begun incubating chick eggs in the science room. We have 90 eggs. Students have been learning about eggs and how the chick is developing inside the egg for the last few weeks. We have candled the eggs and looked at a raw, unfertilized egg.
