Students had a challenge. The challenge was to sink the wood without using their hands. The students used paper clips and rubber bands to make the wood heavy and sink it.

Students observed our courtyard tree in the winter and we drew a winter tree.
Students experimented with how water and wood interact. We also discovered that all the wood samples float.
Students reviewed that wood comes from trees and can be created in a factory. We also identified items in the classroom that are made out of wood.
This class earned a free day with their behavior. They chose to watch a movie. We watched Magic School Bus "Spins a Web".
We started a new unit in science called Materials in Our World and we learned that some wood comes from trees and some wood is made in a factory.
Students put their fall courtyard tree pictures in their notebooks. They also had their last weather observation and discussed how the weather changes during the year, season and day.
One group earned a free day for their behavior and they chose to watch a Magic School Bus video about spiders. The other group finished items from last week.
In science, students continued observing the weather. They also looked at the temperature in the morning and afternoon and saw that most of the time the temperature is warmer in the afternoon.

General Information:
Kindergarten students have science twice a week on Tuesday from 1:30-2pm and Friday from 3-3:30pm. Kindergarten students do not have science homework or tests. Kindergarten Science Units:
