Students reviewed for their science test by playing a kahoot game. The science test is Wednesday. We also tried to identify the minerals that make up the rock granite.

Students finished the calcite quest and began looking at minerals to find out if they make up the rock granite.
Homework- Study for the test on Wednesday Students observed their crystals in their evaporation dishes and determined they were salt crystals based on their shape. We also began an investigation to look at which rocks have the mineral calcite in them.
Homework due Learning About Rocks- Study for the test. The test is Nov.1 Students got a study guide to review for the upcoming test over Earth Materials. We also observed the salt crystals in our evaporation dishes.
Homework due Wednesday- Learning About Rocks reading and questions Students got their iPads during science and were trained on how to set them up.
No homework Students learned how to determine the hardness of a mineral by using the hardness test. We learned how to identify quartz, calcite, gypsum and fluorite using the hardness test.
Homework-Response sheet is due Friday Students took the pink and grey dough from their mock rocks and put it in water to allow the ingredients to settle. We also set up the water to evaporate to find out if there are any "minerals" dissolved in the water.
Homework due Friday- Response sheet mock rocks We began our new unit Earth's Changing Surface by examining "mock rocks" and taking them apart to find out what rocks are made of.
No homework Students reviewed their test on it's learning. Please ask them to see it. They will be given an opportunity to retake the test on Wednesday. Please review the items that they missed with them.
