No homework We had a guest speaker today. Mrs. Lindsey Jackson from DOW AgScience and Crop Ambassadors talked with our class about crops, pesticides, technology in agriculture, and careers in agriculture.
Homework due Wednesday: Seeds of All Sizes reading and questions Students observed a bean pod and tried to decide what traits were genetic and which ones might have been influenced by the environmental conditions. We also opened up the bean pods and observed the seeds. We learned that the number of seeds in a bean pod can vary and tried to decide how much of that was based on genetics and how much was environmental.
Students used a simulation to "build" a dog from strands of DNA.
No homework Students learned about how traits are passed from one generation to another by doing an activity using "grand parent gingerbread people" passing genes to their children and then that Mother and Father passing genes to their children.
Homework- Science News about heredity- students need to read the science news, do the crossword, and choose one article to write a summary about. due Wednesday Students discussed traits and how we get traits from our parents. We also talked about the difference between inherited and acquired traits.
