Students compared the volume of sounds in the air and in the water. We found that the water amplified the sound.
Homework- Read p. 11-13 in your Physics of Sound book and answer the questions given due Friday

Students investigated the tension of the string and the affect of the tension on the pitch of the sound.
No homework Students earned a free day today with their good behavior. They chose to watch a Bill Nye video about Sound and to play a kahoot game reviewing Energy and Sound.
No homework 3rd graders investigated the length of a medium and how the length affects the pitch of the sound it creates. We investigated using water in bottles, xylophones, kalimbas, and a fiddle made out of a meter stick.
Homework due Friday- Read p. 7-8 and p. 9-10 and answer the questions on p. 8 and 10 on paper. Third graders learned about pitches in science and how short and thin vibrating objects make a high pitch and long and thick vibrating objects make a low pitch.
No homework Third graders discussed how sound is created when something vibrates. The object vibrating is called a sound source and your ear is usually a sound receiver.
Homework- due Friday- Read in your Physics of Sound book p. 5-6 and answer the questions given Today in science, third grade students worked through sound stations and learned that sound is caused by something vibrating.
No homework Wednesday, students earned a free day and they chose to watch the Magic School Bus video about Sound. We also played sound computer games.
Homework- 3 options to explore sound at home, choose one and write a paragraph due Friday Friday, we began our new unit on sound with an activity dropping objects in a drop chamber to hear their sounds. We learned that we can tell an object by the sound it makes. |
